What to do when business is slower than you want

Let me guess. You’ve been making posts on social media. You've been telling people within your network to buy your stuff. You’ve been showing up and being bold. You even sent out an email and text message blast, and you still aren’t getting anywhere near the revenue you want. Business is slow… and I mean crickets slow… and that's frustrating... and you’re tired of things not working for you.

If that’s where you are and you’ve had enough of not seeing better results, then there are four areas in your life and business you’ll want to address right away.

Disclaimer: The following list are areas that entrepreneurs should be working on continuously regardless of the status of their business.

However, if business is slower than ideal or maybe it has been that way for a while, then it may be time to seek help outside of yourself in the areas listed below so you can be fully supported to move past anything that may have been keeping you from success.

Work on yourself: If business is slower than you want, it may be a sign that it’s time to work on you. Are you being challenged to dig deep within yourself, stretch beyond your old way of moving, and get uncomfortable so you can move into your next level? I’ve shared this before, but entrepreneurship is a personal development journey of uncovering your darkest and lightest truths, getting out of your own way, leveling up, confronting fears, finding solutions, expanding, and much more. If business is slow, invest your time, energy, and money into developing your biggest asset: you. Why? Because your business grows only as much as you and your mindset allows. If business is slow, it’s time to look in the mirror and work on you. Sometimes that even means hiring outside help like a coach for example.

Work on your audience: If business is slower than you want, it may be a sign that you don’t really know your ideal audience very well - if at all. Assuming you have been putting yourself out there and showing up with no results, now may be the time to get to know your ideal audience better. Consider doing some field research by conducting interviews with people you think might be a good fit. You might also consider conducting a search online to explore the challenges they are facing. Once you get to really know your audience, you are better able to appeal to their wants, needs, and desires so you can see better results.

Work on your craft: If business is slower than you want, it’s the perfect time to work on your craft. You can use this time to undergo training to learn a new technique in your industry, get certified, learn a trade, or read industry-specific material. By working on your craft, not only are you sharpening your skills, but you are also becoming more valuable to your audience and clientele, which will also help empower you to stand out more above the noise both online and off and be seen as someone who knows their stuff.

Work on your content: If business is slower than you want and especially if you don’t have any clients at all, you need to be spending your time, energy, or money creating content. Your content should add value apart from what everyone else repeats. It should also inspire your ideal audience to want to take the next steps towards working with you. Creating binge-worthy content will help you attract your ideal audience and grow your business. People are spending an average of 6 hours and 42 minutes online every day. If you are not creating content, you are missing out on being seen and therefore leaving a lot of money on the table every single day you don’t take action. I always say, if you don't have the money, you have to make the time or if you don't have the time, you've got to have the money. There is no other way around it. If you want more fish, you need more bait and content is your bait.

If this is resonating with you and you are feeling called to take the next step towards working with me to get your content done for you, then I want to invite you to listen to that inner prompting you felt and get started here so we can help you get the support you need.

As always, my heart is to help you win. However, only take this step if you feel like you’re ready and you feel like you have what it takes. While I am passionate about helping as many people as I can, I only work with those who are ready and committed to their own success.

All the best.
