Gone are the days when entrepreneurs strive to hustle hard and burn the midnight oil going after their dreams. While team no sleep may still be a means, that no longer seems to be the end goal. Yes, it’s true that the reality of creating a business can be a daunting task when you’re just starting out, but it’s also true that you don’t have to slave at a 9 to 5 just to create a business that you’re a slave to as well.
If you’ve been wondering how you can create more freedom in your life and business, I’ve broken down steps below to help you learn how.
However, before I get into showing you how you can create more freedom in your life and business, you may be wondering if I’ve achieved this result in my own life. The answer is yes.
As an online business owner, I’m blessed that I get to wake up everyday not stressed about where money will come from to pay my bills. I get to wake up whenever I so please (I’m a morning person so I choose to wake up pretty early). I pull back the curtains, play meditation music to wake up in a peaceful home and mood, cook/eat breakfast, and run my business for a few short hours in my pjs while my baby is still asleep. I’m a work from home mom, so during the day when my baby is awake, if I’m not meeting with clients, my coach, or team, I spend time during the day tidying up the house, running errands, shopping, reading, or entertaining friends or family.
How you define what freedom looks like in your life and business is up to you. If you want to know how you can introduce more freedom, ease, and flow into your life, then you’re in the right place. Below I’ve outlined what it takes so you can be able to do just that.
Have faith. So much of life is mind over matter. The same thing is true when learning how to create more freedom for yourself. It starts in the mind. What are you believing about yourself? What are you believing about what’s possible for you and your business? The first step to create more freedom in your life and business is to have faith and believe that bigger and better things are within reach. Say to yourself: It is achievable.
Set goals. Several years ago I remember attending a conference with a panel of millionaires. One of them shared that every week he made a list of goals and pinned it on his refrigerator where it could be seen everyday. That piece of advice stuck with me over the years. Having a goal and keeping it in plain sight has helped me stay on track towards reaching whatever I set out to do. Ask yourself: What do you envision for your life? What do you want or want more of? Once you have a clear picture of what freedom looks like for you, you can then back into what goals or milestones you need to achieve what you desire. Setting goals gives you a target to shoot towards. When you aim at the stars, you will land somewhere in the sky.
Check habits. What action steps are you taking that move you in the direction of where you want to go? It’s not enough to just want more, you have to get in the habit of taking action towards that more. For example, if you want to become a homeowner? What will you commit to doing everyday that’s in alignment with that goal? How are you spending your time? Are you doing research to learn more about the process? Are you foregoing the opportunity to order take out so instead you can save more money faster? It’s important to ask these types of questions regarding whatever you’re wanting to create for yourself. Once you ask the right questions, you can then make sure the actions you are taking consistently line up with the new way of life you envisioned for yourself.
Stop self-sabotaging. In many cases, people are but a few decisions away from achieving their desired results, however many people have a tendency to self-sabotage themselves by backing out of doing the thing they know they should do. Do you? Do you have a tendency to talk yourself out of things more than you talk yourself into things? When faced with doubt, fear, or uncertainty, do you look for an escape? When in route to creating more freedom in your life or achieving whatever your dreams may be, you may be surprised to realize that you are already equipped with what you need to take the easy, next, and natural steps towards what you say you’re wanting for your life. You just have to stop getting in your own way and say yes to the version of yourself that already has what you desire.
Having a life filled with more freedom, ease, and flow is within reach and doesn’t have to be far off in the distant future somewhere. You can have the life you desire sooner than you realize if you first start by taking action towards your goals today. That’s right. Up until today, you have probably been putting things off into “later” or “one day” or “when I get a chance”, but not anymore. Learn to find time in between time and start pursuing your goals with urgency. Time is our biggest asset. Ask yourself: Where’s your sense of urgency? Since now is all we have starting today, stop putting things off unto some “perfect time” in the future. There is no better time than now. You have what it takes. Start with what you can, with what you have, and where you are. Do what you know you need to do today.
